Did you try doing it while in desktop mode? Game mode defaults to the steam deck native resolution but that can be overriden with launch setting changes. Desktop mode will output to the display of the external monitor.

Well, it’s interesting. I’d try streaming to the steam deck while it’s in desktop mode and see if that fixes the display issue. Kinda cool that it holds a 800p resolution but I find it curious that it’s not full screen as opposed to the actual 800p but just in the corner.

Would love to hear other issues on why you think the Steam Software is a mess? I’ve personally found it better in every way when compared to a PC, Laptop, or any other hardware, tho I’m hardly someone who uses it more than for streaming and gaming. Which has worked exceptionally well for being the forefront of handheld desktop gaming.

I know my TV has those issues unless I turn on Game Mode, (tv setting) and that’s a 72in tv so I’m sorry you have that issue… What are the syncing/offline issues? I’ve been able to go from wifi to nothing just fine, all games besides DRM games have all worked flawlessly as well without even enabling offline mode, so now I’m curious as to what issues are there.

To be honest, I just want to help, I’m not trying to call any one out, I just personally believe that Steam has done a tremendous job at creating SteamOS.

Quick fix attempt : from game mode, before starting the game, go to the game launch options, there’s one option to configure launching at various resolutions. Try to tell it to override with a specific one or even the “native” one, and it should fix things.

I had an issue similar when hooking my deck up to my 4K tv and playing Castle Crashers with family. It was only going up to 1280x800 until I made that change. Then it supported resolution up to 4K without issue.
