Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a multi-platform release, but that isn’t stopping Xbox from giving it the full first-party treatment. Xbox users booting up their console today were greeted with a large splash screen prompting them to buy it now that the new campaign is out, and some of them aren’t too happy about it.

It’s got to the point now (recent dashboard update and these full screen ads) where I’m starting to really dislike using the Xbox.

its pretty gross, keep ads off the home screen. Microsoft is just so bad for their shitware, I have a mac at home and use pc at work and its unbearable sometimes. the amount of restarts, ads, messages is nuts, edge is awful, I hear they’ve patented a system to embed ads in search results for files, its brutal.

Bing website + Bing mobile app + Xbox mobile app + Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox. Takes about 15 minutes a day. Could’ve been 10 if MS’s apps weren’t so slow. It’s very region dependent – some countries get more earning opportunities than others.

It paid off my Series S in about a year and a half. Any points I earn now are bonus.

Unless things change (I doubt they will) then this will be my last Xbox console. Once my game pass expires it’s time to sell.

Xbox one was my last console before I just went in 100% on PC.

I hated that my dashboard had ads. It bothered me an unreasonable amount.

I have a steam deck now and I think there are some ads, but they are not in the way and I don’t think you can even see them unless you scroll to them.

With the Deck at least the ads are only in the store, where they belong.

And the Deck is completely open to user change.

You xbots get what you deserve: a steady decline in quality, shittier games on an higher interval so you can’t keep up and a price hike before you know it.
